Actor Katrina Kaif's fans down South may feel disheartened to know that the Chikni Chameli of Bollywood has rubbished reports of her signing a film with south superstars Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth. Buzz was that Katrina had signed two films down south and charged a fee of Rs 5 crore each. But Katrina, 27, denies these reports. "No one has contacted me or my manager for any of these films," said Katrina, who is currently shooting in Cuba for Yash Raj Films' Ek Tha Tiger opposite Salman Khan. Buzz was that Katrina had been contacted to play the lead opposite Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan, helmed by Rajini's daughter Soundarya. "Katrina was quite upbeat about the project as the script fascinated her a lot," Soundarya had said a while back. But latest reports suggest that Deepika Padukone has been finalised for the film. "Guys. Deepika Padukone confirmed to play appa's pair in Kochadaiyaan," Soundarya tweeted recently.Haasan, too, hinted at Kat playing the lead opposite him in Ulaganayagan, touted to be one of the most expensive films of Kollywood. "Katrina's been approached by the producer as the role suits her perfectly," he said.

Bipasha Basu loses sleep over Raaz 3

Bipasha Basu has become a ‘sleepless’ beauty. Ever since the actor started shooting for Vikram Bhatt’s Raaz 3 with Emraan Hashmi, she hasn’t had any time for rest, due to a continuous shooting schedule for the 3D film. Until a few days ago, she was down with a viral fever and conjunctivitis, so she couldn’t fulfill her professional commitments (including media interviews) for almost a week. As a result, all the film shoots — including Raaz 3 — were on hold.

“All her projects had to be shifted. And once she started work a few days later, she had to push hard to clear all the backlog by working continuously for a couple of days,” says an insider close to Bipasha.

The actor confirms her chaotic schedule, saying, “Raaz 3, besides being a fantastic 3D horror film, is also an emotionally-taxing drama. In fact, for a couple of days, I hardly slept at all because of the workload. But I am enjoying the experience because it’s a new thrill to work on 3D.”

Interestingly, thanks to her choc-a-bloc shooting schedule, Bipasha couldn’t even go and receive NDTV’s ‘Fittest Bollywood Celebrity’ award personally. The actor had to be content with a video call from the sets of Raaz 3 at Panvel.

“I just didn’t have the time to make it,” she rues, adding, “But, it’s a great achievement especially since I have been awarded for my passion, fitness, rather than professional reasons. It’s fantastic if they believe that I am championing the cause of health and fitness among my fraternity.” The actor’s next release, Jodi Breakers, will hit theatres soon, and she’s confident the year is shaping up well: “2012 looks great. I am confident that people will appreciate my part in it (Jodi Breakers).”

Tena Desae proclaimed she had never been kissed before — on film, that is.

But now she will get her first movie smooch from Dev Patel — he of Slumdog Millionaire fame. 

They play young, illicit lovers in the poignant comedy drama The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which also stars Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and a host of major names.

The bulk of it was filmed on locations in India where Tena is a well-known TV commercial model turned Bollywood actress, though Marigold is her first foray into Western-type film fare.

She was a little perplexed when director John Madden asked her to do a kissing scene with Dev. 

‘We don’t kiss in public. It’s not done. So I was concerned at first,’ she told me. 

‘I didn’t know how to do it, and I was very nervous. But Dev was wonderful and behaved like a gentleman.’

Family is all important for her, and she respects those traditions. ‘My parents  are really quite strict, so I have to be home at a certain  time — even now, at the age of 25.

‘If it’s old school friends that my parents know, then I can stay out till late. 

But if they don’t know them, they want me home by 9pm. If I have work, then I don’t have a deadline. I don’t argue with them. That’s how I have been raised and I’m happy with it,’ she said. 

We’ll be hearing a lot about Tena in the future, so I hope she gets permission to break a few curfews.
